Bill's Sausage Gravy - Printer Friendly

"This is my version of sausage gravy...the best! Pour over hot biscuits (I employ store bought.) Follow these rules and you won't be disappointed! Very fattening and Umm Umm Good!"

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) package maple flavored sausage
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Place sausage inside a large, wide skillet. Cook over medium-high warm (up) up to evenly brown. Remove sausage with a slotted spoon, leaving the drippings inside the pan. Stir inside the butter up to melted. Add flour, and stir up to smooth. Reduce warm (up) to medium, and cook up to light brown. Gradually whisk inside milk, and cook up to thickened. Season with salt and pepper, and stir inside cooked sausage. Reduce heat, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes. If gravy becomes too thick, stir inside a little more milk.
